Diving on the reef, glass water, and coral eggs

On the reef, glass water, and coral eggs

The reef is a such a special place to be. When the whole ocean seems to be made of glass, there are few things more profound. This was taken at the Keys Marine Lab (KML) during the annual coral spawning event. Many coral spawn only a few days of the year (some times only one night). And for those few nights a year, coral biologists are often working day and night. I was more than happy to help a few colleges out a couple weeks ago. Their window of research is so fleeting, it makes me realize how nice it is that my study organisms are around much more of the year.
